Aoraki Swim School is a swim school located in the South Canterbury region of New Zealand. The school provides swimming lessons for children and adults of all ages and abilities, with a focus on building water confidence, safety skills, and proper swimming technique.
The swim school is named after Aoraki/Mount Cook, which is the highest mountain in New Zealand and is located in the Southern Alps of the South Island. Aoraki Swim School aims to instill a love and respect for the water in its students, much like the awe and respect that Aoraki/Mount Cook commands from those who see it.

Learning To Swim Is A Skill No Child Should Be Without
Kevin Hessell
Learning to swim is a process that should commence at the earliest possible age. As with all education for young children, swimming is an ongoing learning skill that takes time and practice. Learning to swim is not a 10 swimming lessons once per year procedure – like literacy and numeracy it is an ongoing learning process….a skill for life.
Our Team of instructors
We pride ourselves on our friendly, dedicated and professional teachers who strive to ensure children reach their potential in a fun filled and positive environment.
Learning how to swim can be a challenging experience for some students. Our long experience gives us patience, encouragement, and understanding. We are here to provide positive reinforcement and help students overcome their fears and anxieties.
Each of the team’s instructors has a strong understanding of the technical aspects of swimming, including stroke technique, breathing, and body positioning.
Services and Courses we provide

Preschool Courses
Toddlers’ swimming classes focus on basic water skills, safety, and growing their enjoyment of the water.
Your child needs to develop these key life skills at an early age to enable them to remain safe in and around water as well as swim and survive.
After School Program
Once the kids are at school, their swimming skills begin to develop very quickly indeed.
Swimming lessons at this age focus on developing a sound technical swimming base, so they’re confident with all the different strokes.
Holiday Program
We have developed a very intense holiday program for 4 years old up. Your child/ren will be in the pool every day for a week for 40 minutes a day. The program is designed for beginner to advanced swimmers.
